The key characteristics of HSA Insurance Plans:

1. All medical expenses are subject to a high deductible, usually $2,000 to $5,000 – after the deductible is met, the plan pays 100%.



2. There are No Copays with HSA plans. Dr. Office Visits, Prescription Drugs and Emergency Room expenses are all subject to the calendar year deductible.



3. You may deposit “before tax dollars” in a Health Savings Account to pay for the medical expenses under the deductible. All money in your Health Saving Account that remains unused, accumulates each year and can eventually be converted to an IRA account.

The tax benefits of Health Savings Accounts are significant, however they are only for people who are willing to:

• give up their Copays
• be responsible for all medical expenses under their deductible
